Alexander-Golant-MDAlexander Golant MD of Flushing NY is a Board-Certified, Fellowship-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon, whose practice focuses on Sports Medicine, Arthroscopic Surgery, and Joint Reconstruction. He is the Associate Director of Sports Medicine at the New York Hospital Queens (NYHQ) Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Flushing, NY, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

Dr. Golant has extensive experience in management of orthopaedic sports medicine injuries and conditions in patients of all ages and experience levels. He currently serves as a Team Physician for the New York Cosmos, Queens College, Metropolitan Oval Soccer Academy, and the Brooklyn Knights (USL Premier Development League soccer team). He is also the Head Team Physician for Flushing High School Football Team, and provides sports medicine coverage for such events as the New York City Half-Marathon.

Dr. Golant actively participates in all facets of orthopaedic care, education and research. He is a member of the Graduate Medical Education and Research Committee at NYHQ, teaches orthopaedic residents (from Hospital for Special Surgery) on a regular basis, and has served as an Associate Master Instructor at courses organized by the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He has authored or co-authored a number of peer-reviewed scientific articles and presentations, and continues to conduct research investigations in several areas of orthopaedic surgery, sports medicine and joint preservation. He serves as a reviewer for Journal of Arthroscopy and was recently invited to join its Editorial Board.

Dr. Golant received his undergraduate and medical education at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed orthopaedic surgery residency at New York University – Hospital for Joint Diseases, where he was selected to serve as an Administrative Chief Resident and received a Resident Teacher of the Year Award. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital and Nicholas Institute for Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma. During his fellowship Dr. Golant served as a Fellow Team Physician to the New York Jets, New York Islanders, Hofstra University, and Hunter College. He also received additional training in Hip Arthroscopy from Dr. Marc Philippon, a world-famous hip arthroscopist, in Vail, Colorado.

Dr. Golant is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and New York State Society for Orthopaedic Surgeons (NYSSOS).

In 2010 Dr. Golant was recognized with a Compassionate Doctor Award (Vitals Patients Choice).

In 2013 Dr. Golant was selected as one of Super Doctors® 2013, New York Rising Stars.

Dr. Golant was recently honored to have been selected as a 2014 Traveling Fellow for the Advanced Arthroscopy Traveling Fellowship of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). He will be participating in this prestigious program from April 20th to May 3rd, 2014.
